Our team

Buderim OSHC offers a fun and safe environment for primary-aged children located on the land of the Gubbi Gubbi people. We aim to build a home away from home environment, allowing children to feel nurtured and supported. We believe in giving children a sense of agency by guiding and encouraging individuality and taking a holistic approach to care.

Our fantastic educators reflect our core philosophy – a dynamic and highly qualified team providing warm, accepting and nurturing care options for our families.

We use a Behaviour Support Process which guides our day-to-day service. It’s the foundation for fostering positive interactions and relationships, allowing individual children to feel valued while providing educators with the tools to be consistent, positive and fair.

Who we are

Adam is the beating heart of Buderim OSHC. He has caring in his DNA and has always envisioned a career in education or youth work – industries that can make a difference in young people’s lives.

He started his career in the disability sector before discovering the OSHC industry in 2005. Beginning as a casual Educator, it wasn’t long before he fell in love with the industry. He then decided he wanted to pursue a career in creating an engaging, safe social environment for children.

Adam grew up and spent most of his working life in Brisbane before relocating to the Sunshine Coast in 2018 with his partner. He is a father to three gorgeous boys, two of which go to Buderim Mountain State School.

Whether it’s relaxing in front of the television or experiencing thrill rides at amusement parks, there’s nothing Adam loves more than spending time with his partner and three boys.

One of the elements that drew him to Buderim OSHC was the warm and inviting community feel evident within the school. Another plus was the P&C operating the OSHC in-house adding to the community-minded spirit of the area.

Everyone who knows Adam will tell you how much he loves his job. The thing that lights him up is being able to establish strong and meaningful relationships with children, families, educators and the community.
Adam is passionate about mentoring new employees to become confident and skilled educators. He is a wonderful guide to his staff with 14 years of experience as an OSHC Director.

Following Adam’s lead, Buderim OSHC Educators Educators are highly qualified and possess a wide range of skills, expertise and experiences. They are positive and energetic educators from diverse cultures and geographical backgrounds who add value to the service and the lives of the children and families they encounter.

Our quality service

We follow the Department of Education and Training’s My Place, Our Time framework to guide our curriculum. It’s a nationally recognised framework to assist educators in providing children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in life.

The framework conveys high expectations for children’s play and leisure activities in school-age care settings. It communicates these expectations through these outcomes:
  • Children have a strong sense of identity
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • Children are confident and involved learners
  • Children are effective communicators

We have further developed the framework to incorporate tailored programs for our children:

  • Ready, Steady, Grow – to assist Prep children in the transition process from Kindergarten to the Buderim school community
  • Involved and Independent – caters to children’s individual needs in the upper primary years, encouraging our children to be independent and take responsibility.

Adam and the team at Buderim OSHC are nothing short of amazing. My daughter has been attending since she first started prep (now in year 3) and she absolutely loves it and looks forward to seeing all the staff. The team are friendly, professional and always keep you informed and up to date. It is going to be a sad day when we no longer require the service.

Madelyn Muir

The team at Buderim OSHC do an amazing job at creating a warm, inclusive and fun environment for children to be themselves. My son has been attending both Before and After as well as Vacation Care since Prep. And 5 years on, my son still begs me to stay for ‘just a little bit longer’ when I pick him up. Thank you Adam and the Team for all you do!
